The Olu of Warri, His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, has commended Sahara Group for stimulating sustainable development in the Ajoki community of Edo State through the delivery of 24-hour power supply.
The commendation was given by His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, while welcoming some Sahara Group delegates to his palace.
The Monarch said that Sahara’s track record signifies that the organization has always demonstrated exemplary community relations and executed many projects with outstanding social impact across the Niger Delta.
He also noted that it is heartwarming to see the opportunities that are now available as a result of the steady power supply in Ajoki.
According to him, Sahara Group deserves to be commended for this accomplishment and for leading by example, as well as working harmoniously with the host communities of oil and gas companies.
The Monarch added that he was pleased with the 24-hour clean power supply to the community.
The development, he said, is something that must be praised and celebrated.
According to him “he Warri Kingdom is more gas-rich than oil-rich, and if it is able to take the “Gas-to-Power” to strategic locations across the kingdom, the kingdom will become the new center for commerce and industry.”
The Chief Operating Officer of Asharami Energy, a Sahara Group Upstream Company, Henry Menkiti, told the Olu of Warri that the courtesy visit to the palace was to provide updates on the organization’s operations and also pay tribute to the King for the support of the good people of the kingdom.
He stated that delivering uninterrupted, clean power to Ajoki is an outstanding achievement for Sahara Group.
Menkiti said that the Group was also working with local contractors from the Ajoki community in order to enhance their competence and capacity to be globally competitive.
The Director of Governance and Sustainability, Sahara Group, Ejiro Gray, while speaking on the Ajoki electrification project, said that the project would serve as a template for the energy conglomerate as it continues to seek out ways of improving sustainable development in its host communities.
