WABOTE TO DELIVER LECTURE AT FUPRE’s 3rd CONVOCATION CEREMONY

Africa’s first and only specialized petroleum university, ‘The Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE), Delta has announced its 3rd convocation ceremony scheduled for the 17th and 18th of June 2022.

Taking centre stage at the convocation ceremony is the Convocation Lecture among other laudable activities lined up in the convocation programme including, the installation of the new Chancellor, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, Akarigbo of Remoland recently appointed by His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari.

The convocation lecture themed Defining the Value of Local Content in Petroleum Education, and will be delivered by none other than the local content principal Engr. Simbi Kesiye Wabote the current Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB). Popularly tagged the Game changer, Engr. Kesiye has been steering the Board towards strategic and pragmatic local content domiciliation and domestication of not just the Nigerian energy space but the entire African Energy corridor.

The FUPRE vice chancellor, Professor Akpofure Rim-Rukeh during a meeting with the convocation ceremony committee of the university headed by the institution’s deputy vice chancellor (admin), Professor C.I Ajuwa stated that this year’s convocation ceremony has been uniquely designed to focus on the Nigerian Energy, Oil and gas industry.

Hence, in addition to the Convocation lecture, the ceremony will also feature a special industry /academia/government round table session where top executives and industry captains cut across both the public and private sectors of the industry shall be holding high level discussions focused on the sector innovation, research and development at the wake of energy transition.

FUPRE for over 15 years has laid down a marker for bridging the gap between petroleum training and innovation, as an academia and industry trailblazer, with bragging right to many notable innovations, patents and prototypes.
