Adaobi Rhema Oguejiofor

President of the Miners Association of Nigeria (MAN), Mr. Dele Ayanleke, has said that the nation, which has huge mineral resource deposits, is essential for the global transition from fossil fuels to green energy.

He said this during the press conference that was held for the upcoming 8th edition of the Nigeria Mining Week, which is scheduled to take place from October 16th to October 18th, 2023, in Abuja.

According to him, the whole world is in transit from the era of fossil energy to green energy, and Nigeria, being a destination to the huge deposit of minerals is required for this transition. He added that stakeholders must come together to offer ideas to Nigerian policymakers on the ways to pragmatically turn these resources into huge economic growth and development by speeding up the process of industrial revolution, thereby taking advantage of the nation’s mineral endowments.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Mary Ogbe, who also spoke at the press conference, said that the mining week is an opportunity for Nigeria to showcase its mineral resources to investors and drive conversations between the government, mining operators, investors, and other relevant stakeholders.

In her own words, “The Nigeria Mining Week serves as a unique platform that brings together government officials, mining companies, investors, technology providers, and various stakeholders to engage in insightful discussions, knowledge sharing, and collaboration, which is aimed at unlocking the full potential of Nigeria’s mining industry.

With a rich history of mineral resources, Nigeria stands poised to harness its mineral wealth for sustainable economic growth and development.”

The Nigeria Mining Week is an annual event and platform for all the mining stakeholders and influencers in the public and private sectors that want to do business in Nigeria. The event, which was instituted eight years ago, is organized by the Miners Association of Nigeria (MAN) in collaboration with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) International Limited, a British multinational professional services brand of firms, operating as partnerships under the PwC brand and the Vuka Group, a consulting Company that provides business growth strategy services for the mining, mobility, energy, and retail sector.
