Sylva receives British High Commissioner to Nigeria

The Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Chief Timipre Sylva, received today, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Liang in Abuja, Nigeria.

She was accompanied by Stuart Tibbs (Senior Economic Advisor, Department for International Development Nigeria) and Damilola Oyedele (Senior Political Adviser, British High Commission Abuja – UK in Nigeria).

Their conversation centered on the need for a robust stakeholder engagement that will ensure a consensus on the proposed Petroleum Industry Bill and the urgent need to firm up investor partnerships as Nigeria firmly commits to deepened Gas Business focus as a transition to cleaner forms of energy.

Chief Sylva name-checked the compressed natural gas for transportation pilot project in Benin City, Edo State and noted that plans are underway to roll it, nationwide.

He further reiterated Liang’s concern on the need for consensus-building while noting that it is a critical aspect of the PIB drafting process.
