Seplat Energy, a Nigeria’s leading indigenous energy company, has said that it would hold its 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM), which has been scheduled for May 10 as planned.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Company’s Board Chairman, Mr. Basil Omiyi.
In the statement, Seplat said that the firm has become aware of certain media reports that seek to create the impression that the Federal High Court in Abuja has restrained the Company from holding its 2023 AGM.
The company added that such reports are a deliberate attempt to misinform the public and misrepresent the court proceedings, as the court did not issue any order stopping the commencement of the AGM.
Earlier, there were reports that the planned AGM by Seplat Energy had been restricted, and that the Federal High Court had ordered it to be stopped until issues in the law suit against the Company are resolved.
The energy firm stated that it is working within the scope of the law, with due reference to the Court, and has secured all required approvals to hold its meeting.
