Pro clubs up in arms as NFF pay FA chairmen, journalists ‘Coronavirus Palliatives’

Nigerian professional clubs are spoiling for a fight with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) after they were overlooked in the sharing of “coronavirus palliatives” recently, scorenigeria has revealed.

The NFF have remained silent about what help they could offer professional clubs during the Coronavirus Pandemic, but they did not fail to pay state FA chairmen, journalists as well as secretariat staff to assist them during the lockdown caused by the Coronavirus outbreak.

It was gathered that each FA chairman was paid 50,000 Naira, while “loyal” journalists received 10,000 Naira each.

NFF secretariat staffers were also paid stipends according to their salary grade levels, an official informed SCORENigeria

“You can see that they only paid themselves,” blasted the chairman of an NPFL club.

Another top club official he was not shocked by the NFF approach because the leadership is “greedy and selfish”.

The NFF extended some assistance to some non-league clubs in Abuja and Lagos, while the professional clubs have so been left to their own fate.

Controversies have continued to surround the $500,000 (about 200 million Naira) FIFA paid the NFF recently.

NFF president Amaju Pinnick has insisted the cash is for youth football development.

However, the National Association of Nigerian Footballers (NANF) maintained the money was for the NFF to offer some lifeline to professional clubs during the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Several African football federations like that of Gambia have since paid their top clubs from the funds they received from FIFA.
