OPEC Secretary General Barkindo in Iraq Following Government Invitation

OPEC secretary general and chief coordinator of OPEC +, HE Dr. Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo, left Vienna on Wednesday for Iraq where he would hold bilateral meetings with the Iraqi government on current global energy challenges.

Dr. Barkindo, who arrived the nation’s capital, Baghdad today, was received at the airport by top government officials.

The OPEC boss, who is expected to spend a few days in Baghdad, will meet the country’s prime minister, HE Mustafa Kadimi and oil minister, Mr lhsan Abduljaber Ismaeel, among other top officials.

Baghdad is the birthplace of OPEC and a cradle of human civilisation, and Iraq is an influential member of both OPEC and OPEC +.

Dr Barkindo, who is also the Wali of Adamawa and an advocate of international tourism as an instrument of global cooperation and diplomacy, is scheduled to visit tourist attractions in the ancient city of Babylon and the birthplace of Prophet Abraham in the City of Urrr.
