Onitsha Chamber Advises Soludo to give Details on MoU with Enugu Discos

By Adaobi Rhema Oguejiofor

The Onitsha Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (ONICCIMA) has advised the Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, to explain the details of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the 24-hour power supply in the state.

The Chamber’s President, Chief Kevin Obieri, made a request for this clarification in a statement on Monday.

Recently in March, Soludo signed an MoU between the state government and Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) to ensure that power supply within the state was available for 24 hours each day and seven days each week.

Obieri stated that the chamber is concerned that there is no detailed information regarding the MoU and its broad implications for the business community of Onitsha and the entire state.

He explained that there was no detailed information on when the partnership would begin and whether the projections were to take place within a month, a year, or towards the end of the administration’s tenure.

According to him, although the chamber continues to support Gov. Soludo’s developmental strides in the state, they strongly feel that the government should do well to familarize the business community with the MoU.
