NNPCL Commends FG on Fuel Subsidy Removal, Promises Sufficient Supply of Product

By Adaobi Rhema Oguejiofor

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has commended the Federal Government on its decision to remove fuel subsidy.

The Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of NNPC Limited, Mallam Mele Kyari, after an emergency meeting in Abuja, stated that the removal of fuel subsidy, which had been a burden on the Company’s cash flow, will free up funds in order to enable optimal operations within NNPCL.

He also assured Nigerians of the sufficient supply of petrol, while maintaining that the Company was also monitoring all its distribution networks in order to ensure that there is compliance.

This comes after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during his inaugural speech as the new President of Nigeria, announced the removal of fuel subsidy.

Tinubu insisted that subsidy can no longer justify its ever-increasing costs in the wake of drying resources.
