Nigerian Community Polluted by Oil Spillage from SPDC

Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) has confirmed a recent oil spillage caused by its operations in a manifold 12 pipeline in Ebubu Community, Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria.

This was revealed in a statement by Micheal Adande, SPDC’s spokesperson, who also said that a government-led joint investigation team is working to discover the cause of the incident, as well as the level of impact it has had on the affected community. 

The statement added that “the company is currently working with industry regulators to safely contain the discharge, while waiting for the government-led joint investigation team to find out the cause and impact of the oil spillage.”
