The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Local Content Monitoring Agency (NLCMA) of Senegal on strengthening local content mainstreaming in the Senegalese oil and gas sector.
The MoU signing took place on Tuesday at the 7th Sub-Saharan Africa International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital.
At the signing, Mamadou Fall Kane, Senegal’s Representative and Deputy Permanent Secretary, COS Petrogaz of the Republic of Senegal, said that his country had a lot to learn from Nigeria since it has been able to achieve 54 percent in local content production out of its set target of 70 percent by 2027.
NCDMB’s Executive Secretary, Simbi Wabote, said during the signing that the partnership is not only to strengthen local content in Senegal but is also a business-to-business partnership and a means for capacity building in Senegal.
The Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Mallam Mele Kyari, in his keynote address, asked for collaboration among African countries on more hydrocarbon discoveries within the continent.
