The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has called for more female Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) in the petroleum sector of Nigeria.

In a bid to encourage this, the Board has commenced a six-day Entrepreneurship Training Workshop in Port Harcourt, Rivers State for 30 women who are overseeing different firms in the oil and gas industry.

The training is based on a course content developed by the United Nations Conference for Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and it is being conducted by international trainers authorized by the UN Agency.

The Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Simbi Wabote, while speaking on the first day of the training, lamented that female entrepreneurs were extremely few in the oil and gas industry.

Represented at the occasion by NCDMB’s Manager.of  Capacity Building, Angela Okoro, , Wabote said the entrepreneurship development programme organized by the Board would equip women with the essential skills needed to participate effectively in the sector as well as other endeavors.

The NCDMB Boss said that the training would place female entrepreneurs in a better position to benefit from the Nigerian Content Intervention Fund (NCIFund) established by the Board in partnership with the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM).
