According to report by the Vanguard newspaper, Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has called on President Bola Tinubu to reduce the price of petrol to N300 per liter. He argued that such a move would bring relief to Nigerians during the festive season and positively impact lives across the country.
Speaking at a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday, George emphasized the significance of December and January as critical months for all Nigerians, irrespective of religion or background. He urged the government to implement the reduction immediately.
George stated, “By the middle of this month, President Tinubu, if he truly believes Nigerians voted him into power, should give back to them. December and January are universally recognized as significant months. From mid-December to the end of January, the cost of petrol should be reduced to N300 per liter. The government can absorb the losses.”
George further referenced the generosity of the First Lady, saying, “If Madam First Lady could donate N1 billion to a university, surely some funds could be allocated to make this happen. Nigerians deserve a reason to smile this festive season.”
The PDP stalwart also addressed the current challenges facing his party, expressing optimism that it would overcome them before the 2027 elections. Speaking during an interactive session, he stressed the importance of adhering to the party’s founding principles of zoning and rotation of political offices.
“What we handed down as a stable doctrine has been undermined by individual ambitions. Someone’s personal ambition should never outweigh the collective goals of the party. Who the hell are you? We need to return to these values to rebuild the party.”
