By Moses Patience Chat

The Lagos Police Command has arrested and charged eight suspected electric cable thieves to court, following their arrest in the Lekki area of the State.

The Lagos Police disclosed this on Friday through an official statement on its Twitter account signed by the Spokesman of the Force, Benjamin Hundeyin.

According to the statement, operatives of the Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) arrested the suspected cable thieves and recovered over 100-meters-long armoured cable from one of the suspects in Igbo Efon, Lekki.

Hundeyin revealed that all suspects were arrested at about 9:30 p.m. in Anthony Village, Lagos,  when RRS operatives on patrol in the area caught them digging and shoveling the ground for armoured cables belonging to Ikeja Electric.

According to the Lagos Police spokesman, all eight suspects have been charged to court. He further called on Lagosians to report cases of robberies to the nearest police station and not just talk about them.
