Kogi Community Laments Over Months of Power Outage

Residents of the Nasrul-Lahi-l-Fatih Society (NASFAT) in Felele Phase II, a suburb of Lokoja, the Capital of Kogi State, have lamented concerning the absence of power supply brought upon them by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) for several months.

This was disclosed on Monday by the Community Chairman, Hon. Sani Ibrahim, and the Committee Chairman on Electricity, Raji Omuya, in a ‘Save Our Soul’ letter, which was addressed to the Lokoja Office of AEDC.

The Society complained that the development has continued to bring hardship in the area, thereby paralyzing economic activities. They added that hoodlums have now capitalized on the power outage in order to perpetuate all forms of criminal activities.

NAFSAT appealed to AEDC and the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, to provide them with a new transformer.

According to them, “we are calling on AEDC and Governor Yahaya Bello to quickly come to our aid. Our community has been suffering from total blackout for several months. Economic activities have been crippled, hoodlums are taking advantage of this situation.

“All we are asking for is a new transformer to fix our electricity problem. We have made contributions within ourselves to restore power to our community but it is far above us, that is why we are making this passionate appeal for AEDC and Governor Bello to come and save us from these long months of darkness and hardship.”
