The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) on Tuesday said it has withdrawn the “suspension of operation” directive that it previously issued to its members.
Chief Chinedu Ukadike, the National Public Relations Officer of IPMAN, in a statement countered the suspension order stating that the IPMAN National Chairman had asked the Maiduguri Depot Chairman to retract the notice.
Ukadike said that the move to shut down filling stations would not hold as a result of discussions between the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), as well as IPMAN and other stakeholders.
IPMAN’s latest decision comes as the Federal Government also issued warnings of grave consequences to befall individuals or groups of individuals that try to exploit or cause further hardships for citizens of Nigeria by disturbing the distribution chain and fuel supply within the country.
The Maiduguri branch of the Association had previously sent out a notice to its members ordering them to suspend operations and close all their filling stations.
Valuechain confirmed that the trade union has been able to resolve the issue and has called on its members to resume operations with immediate effect.
