Igbo traditional rulers in the diaspora, under the umbrella body of Association of Eze Nigbo N’uzo Ije, have condemned in strong terms, the assassination of former Special Adviser on Politics to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Ahmed Gulak.
The Ezedioranma IV, Eze Ndigbo His Royal Highness Igwe Dr. Boniface Ibekwe (Ide I) in a statement in Kano on Saturday commiserated with the late Gulak’s family and the nation over the murder he described as a dastardly act.
Dr. Ibekwe, who is the president-general of the Igbo traditional leaders in the diaspora, called on security agents to fish out all those connected to the killing of the former president’s adviser.
The association also sued for peace across regions and warned all groups and individuals drumming for war and raising tensions capable of tearing the nation apart.
“After due consultations, I wish to make this press statement on behalf of the Association of Eze Nigbo N’uzo Ije (Igbo traditional leaders in diaspora) as follows:
“To condemn in strongest terms, the unabating spate of unprovoked killings, kidnappings and high scale banditry in and around the country, with particular emphasis on the southeast zone in recent times.
“The gruesome murder of Hon. Ahmed Gulak at Owerri, Imo State, is one murder too many and calls for total condemnation.
“We commiserate with his family and the nation over the dastardly act and pray for the repose of his gentle soul.
“We wish to call on our gallant security agents to fish out all the perpetrators of this heinous act and bring them to justice.
“We want to make a clarion call on southeast governors to engage the Ebubeagu Security outfit in flushing out criminals from the zone.
“Lastly, we wish to reaffirm our unalloyed support and commitment to the sustenance of a long and virile Nigeria, where peace, unity, justice and equity prevails,” His Royal Highness Ibekwe said.
