President of the International Association of Energy Economics (IAEE), Prof. Jean-Micheal Glachant, has said that energy transition is a dynamic and real issue that Nigeria must work on.
He said this while speaking at the 16th Annual International Conference of the Nigerian Association of Energy Economics (NAEE), which is currently taking place at PTDF Towers in Abuja. Glachant was represented at the conference by Prof. Omowumi Illadare, an energy expert from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.
The conference, which is themed ” Energy Evolution, Transition, and Reform: Prospects for African Economies” is aimed at promoting the development and education of Energy Professionals.
Speaking on energy transition, he noted that energy transition was not static, but dynamic and real. He advised Nigeria to pay attention to the transition process going on in the world.
He urged Nigeria and other African countries to embrace and walk the energy transition path methodologically, stating that he hopes more Nigerians will attend the 2023 International Association of Energy Economics (IAEE) conference coming up soon in Istanbul, Turkey.
He explained that IAEE is more of an interdisciplinary organization where individuals who are interested in the study of the economics of energy and that the Association has affiliates all over the world and that they have about 9000 members from different continents of the world.
He also suggested that as an African country, Nigeria must work the transition talk carefully and ensure they enter into the trade.
