The management of multinational power company operating in Nigeria, General Electric (GE) Limited, has announced that it is working on increasing Nigeria’s electricity generation capacity by 500 megawatts before the end of the second quarter of 2023.
Mr Mohammed Mijindadi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the firm made this known during an interactive session with the media, titled: “Powering the Future of Energy in Nigeria with GE.”
Mijindadisaid that the company is presently working on 3 projects for Nigeria that will add 500 MW to Nigeria’s national grid. These projects are the 240 megawatt Afam III power plant in Port Harcourt, the 50 megawatt Maiduguri project, and the 50 megawatt power plant located at the Dangote cement factory.
He also noted that GE hopes to complete the projects by the end of the first quarter or in the early second quarter of 2023. The multinational energy giant has always assured that its well-built technologies will continue to serve Nigeria’s energy need.
