Nigeria Pillar of Sports Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike has Charged Nigerian Athletes at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham City to emulate the commitment and winning attitudes of world record holder, Tobi Amusan and her counterpart, Ese Brume by winning laurels for the country.
Chief Ejidike who extolled the virtues of Tobi Amusan and Ese Brume as good ambassadors of Nigeria, enjoined other athletes to tap from their winning mentality to bring more medals from the commonwealth Games.
He charged the athletes and officials to put the country first in all their events in order to become proud Nigerians and good representatives of their families.
According to him: ”Tobi Amusan’s performance has put Nigeria in the global spotlight and history will continue to remember her for good. So I urge other athletes to draw inspirations from her to make Nigeria proud at the Commonwealth Games,” he said.
The Nigeria Pillar of Sports commended the Federal Government through the Ministry of Youths and Sports, and the various sports federations, for the adequate preparations ahead of the Games.
Chief Ejidike specifically described the tears of joy by Tobi Amusan and the Nigeria National Anthem played proudly at the Oregon, USA world stage as part of the good memories that will forever put smiles on the faces of Nigerians and inspire our youths to greatness.
