The Governor of Kaduna Sate, Nasir El-Rufai, has lauded the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kyari, stating that he is the “game changer” needed to move the corporation forward in terms of accountability and transparency. But the governor fears that the cabal would soon launch attacks on the GMD.
The NNPC recently published its audited accounts for 2018, which was the first in the 43 years of the corporation.
The corporation manages Nigeria’s oil sector which contributes 90% of its export, and it is believed that the corporation would be better repositioned, especially with the policies of Kyari.
In a statement on Wednesday, El- Rufai commended the GMD’s effort and his numerous achievements within the short period he has been in office as GMD.
While responding to a tweet of the Special Assistant to President Muhammad Buhari on new media, Bashir Ahmed, El-Rufai said: “Mele Kyari’s heart is in the right place! His tenure shall be the games changer that NNPC and Nigeria needs. He is competent, confident and rapidly plugging leakages, repositioning the Corporation towards greater transparency and accountability. The oil cabal will certainly attack him!”
Meanwhile, Bashir had said, “The Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Mallam @MKKyari has kept his promise as the NNPC, published audited financial statements for the first time in 43 years of its operation.”
