The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has called on the governors spread across the 36 States of the country to put in place mechanisms that will enable them to generate adequate electricity supply for their people.
The Vice President of the NSE, Danladi Adamu, made the call while presenting a paper at the 2023 Engineering Week of NSE’s Jalingo branch on Tuesday.
Adamu noted that the days of depending only on the national grids for power generation are gradually coming to an end. He challenged the governors to commence the process of supplying power to their residents as treat it as a matter of urgency.
According to him, State governors do not have to rely on the national grid before thinking of making power supply available to the people residing at various locations within their states because from the enactment of the Electricity Act, governors can now provide power to residents without depending on the national grid.
He urged them to partner with companies or investors experienced in power generation in order to achieve the target.
