Abdullahi Sule, the Governor of Nasarawa State, has said that the preliminary findings by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited have revealed that there is crude oil present in the communities of Agwatashi and Assakio in Obi Local Government Area of the State.
Before these newest findings, NNPCL had previously found oil in Keana Local Government Area and preparations are ongoing to commence its drilling by March 2023.
Sule, while speaking at an interactive session with APC stakeholders, said that his administration was not going to relent until Nasarawa State begins to enjoy the 13 percent derivation revenue as an oil producing state.
He assured that the State Government and the NNPCL will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in mid-February to enable them begin the drilling of oil wells in Keana Local Government without any hindrance.
