The Executive Chairman of Obi Local Government (LGA) Council in Nasarawa State, Mr Joshua Ozhe-Yekpowudu, has assured host communities that the Federal Government and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited are working out proper compensation for lands and other properties that were affected, following the discovery of crude oil in the area.
Mr. Ozhe-Yekpowudu gave this assurance in Lafia, the State Capital, on Sunday. saying that the compensation has become imperative because it would go a long way in preventing any crisis in the communities.
The Chairman also appealed to members of host communities to continue to give their maximum cooperation to NNPCL for the success of the exercise, as the exploration is important to the economic and growth and wellbeing of the people in the area in terms of job creation and other benefits.
This comes after President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, March 28th flagged off the Ebenyi oil exploration campaign in Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, following the discovery of crude oil by NNPCL in the area.
