Shell Companies in Nigeria (SCiN) has emerged as the Best Exhibitor at the 2024 Nigeria Annual International Conference and Exhibition of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) held in Lagos from August 5-7. The company also won seven individual awards, cementing its position as a leading player in the oil and gas industry.

The Shell exhibition stand, which combined informative posters with interactive learning sessions for engineering students and free medical services, was praised by SPE International President Terry Palisch and Chairman of the Nigeria Council Salahudeen Tahir as a “leading light” in the industry.

“We recognise that, being an industry leader, puts on us enormous responsibility and we have continued to rethink and reshape our strategies in a manner that brings optimal value to Nigeria, our partners and the local service industry,” said Oladipo Ashafa, SCiN’s Asset Development and Subsurface Manager, who received the Best Exhibitor award on behalf of the company.

Ashafa added that the award was “a reward for professional and technical excellence.”

Individual award winners from SCiN included Ngozi Okonkwo, Olalekan Balogun, Femi Obakhena, Oladipo Ashafa, and Magdalene Umoh, who won awards in various categories such as drilling, reservoir description, and production operations.

SNEPCo Managing Director Elohor Aiboni congratulated the Shell team on their success, saying, “We appreciate SPE for providing a platform for companies to showcase their contributions to the industry and for professionals to exchange ideas.”

This is not the first time SCiN has received recognition this year, having won Best Exhibitor at the 7th Nigeria International Energy Summit in Abuja and International Oil Company of the Year 2024 at the 8th Sub-Saharan Africa International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (SAIPEC) in Lagos.
