Seplat Energy, a Nigeria-based international energy Company, has said that it is planning to replace diesel with renewable energy pilot programmes in 2023.
The Company disclosed this its Full Year 2022 Financial Report, where it also make clear its intention to achieve a world-class capacity in renewable energy through the development or acquisition of new skill sets that can open up new profitable markets.
The report stated that Seplat is planning a diesel replacement programme and is exploring replacements with lower carbon gas or solar energy where possible. It is also assured that it intends to develop new revenue-generating opportunities that combine natural gas with renewable energy sources.
Seplat further revealed in the report that it has set its target towards achieving net zero in 2050 and that the Company also plans to feature gas in its carbon reduction plans as a result of its corporate position that natural gas will play a huge role in the energy access gap.
The report also stated that Seplat energy has a gas flare-out initiative and the plan is on schedule to end routine flaring by the end of 2024.
