NUPRC Management Accused of Illegally Cutting N10bn from Retirees Pay

The Management of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has been accused of Illegally withholding the amount of N10 billion which it cut from monies that were meant to be paid as benefits to those who had retired from the Commission.

Valuechain learnt from a very reliable source that “the supposed N10 billion virement meant to pay the 30% illegally cut off from all year 2022 retirees is yet to be paid as we speak.”

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, the source further noted that “the management has not equally paid the retirees’ long service award benefits, after having served the organisation meritoriously for 35 years, and for up to 20 months after exiting service.

“This is happening for the first time since 1977 when the then Petroleum Inspectorate was created.

“All these payments are still hanging despite several engagements and written appeals to the present leadership of NUPRC.”

According to the high level source, “the evidence to the N10 billion virement, 30% gratuity pay-cuts, and the 35 years long service awards benefits being denied the retirees are pretty available, and I challenge all those concerned to prove me otherwise.”
