By Adaobi Rhema Oguejiofor

The new Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in Abia State, Paul Igwebuike, has said that six suspected crude oil thieves have been arrested, with 42 drums of oil suspected to be crude oil retrieved from them.

He revealed this while parading the six suspected oil thieves arrested by men of his Command, calling dealers in the illegal petroleum business as saboteurs to the country’s economy.

Igwebuike said that the suspected criminals were arrested at Gas Line by Iheoma Uratta in Aba, Abia state.

He said that the apprehension of the suspects was made possible through a tip-off from informants.

The Commandant also warned that criminal activities of any nature would not be allowed in the state as he has come to sanitize the “State of criminals”, in line with the mandate of the Commandant-General of NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi

He commended his men for their bravery in arresting the suspects and appealed to the residents of Abia to volunteer more information to the NSCDC about any suspected criminal activities by hoodlums around their areas.

The Abia NSCDC Commandant further stressed that the six suspects that were arrested would be charged to court after thorough investigations.
