Norwegian ambassador to Nigeria, Jens-Petter Kjemprud, has outlined the prospects of an onshore-offshore collaboration between Nigeria and the Kingdom of Norway on gas.

Kjemprud sought collaboration between the two countries when he met with the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, in Abuja.

The duo, at the meeting, explored possible points of bilateral cooperation between both countries, especially concerning oil and gas.

Nigeria and Norway are global energy powers, have a nearly similar trajectory in their respective growth within the petroleum sector and would benefit immensely from a solid future-focused relationship, the minister and ambassador noted.

Ambassador Kjemprud, who expressed his excitement about the hospitality he is enjoying in Nigeria, announced that his country was looking at renewable energy for development programmes geared towards the future.

Reiterating his commitment to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, Sylva encouraged Norway to explore the possibility of becoming a full member of OPEC as the Nordic country, at present, still participated at OPEC meetings as an observer.
