The Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Mallam Mele Kyari, has announced that the Company will commence the supply of 300,000 barrels of crude oil per day to the Dangote Refinery facility as it begins operations next week.

Kyari revealed this at the ongoing 4th edition of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Opportunity Fair (NOGOF) 2023 in Bayelsa State, where he also urged all stakeholders to join the national petroleum company in its quest to grow and expand Nigeria’s crude oil and gas production.

According to him, NNPC Limited, which has 20 percent shares in the Dangote Refinery, is ready to meet its crude oil supply obligations to the facility by supplying 300,000 barrels of crude oil per day, as soon as the refinery begins operational activities next week.

In his own words, “we want to address the energy challenges in Nigeria so that industrialization can come to the country. 48 percent of all the revenues that come to the government come from the oil and gas sector and we are in a very good position to support the growth of the economy.”

It has been reported that the Dangote Refinery, a 650,000 barrels per day (bpd) capacity facility, is set to be inaugurated by President Muhammadu Buhari on May 22nd, 2023. The refinery, which is owned by Aliko Dangote, a Nigerian businessman and industrialist, is expected to be Africa’s biggest oil refinery and the world’s biggest single-train facility.
