The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has cautioned the operators of illegal petrol outlets in Rivers State to either regularize their operations or be ready to face sanctions.

The Regional Coordinator of NMDPRA, South-South Zone, Mr George Ene-Ita, issued the warning while speaking with top executives in the petroleum sector in Port Harcourt.

Ene-Ita said that the Authority had also instructed depots within the region to enforce the no-license-no-lifting of petroleum products policy.

According to him, the Authority has a compiled list of illegal outlets and has given all illegally constructed retail outlets till the end of April to approach the NMDPRA in order to try and regularize their establishments, or face severe consequences.

He also disclosed that the Authority plans to restart the technical safety audit of the operations of petrol retail outlets and other activities.
