The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has launched a strategic partnership with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to educate citizens on their electricity rights and obligations.
During a meeting at the NYSC headquarters in Abuja, NERC officials outlined plans to mobilize NYSC members to disseminate vital information on electricity consumer rights and responsibilities across the country.
The initiative aims to enhance electricity literacy among Nigerians, particularly at the grassroots level. NERC’s Assistant General Manager for Consumer Enlightenment, Mrs. Regina Osuagwu, emphasized the critical role NYSC members can play in educating communities about their entitlements and duties as consumers.
NYSC Director-General, Brig. Gen. Yusha’u D. Ahmed, welcomed the partnership, noting its alignment with the scheme’s mandate of national integration and development. The collaboration is expected to promote fairness, transparency, and accountability in the electricity sector.
