The Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, on Wednesday, received the duo of the Minister of State for Petroleum, Chief Timipre Sylva, and the Secretary General of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), HE Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo.
The reception was on the occasion of the inauguration of Brooge Petroleum and Gas Investment Company’s second phase storage facility at the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone (FOIZ), bringing its total capacity to around 1 million cubic metre (6.3 million barrels).
Sharqi, during the reception, highlighted OPEC’s key role in achieving rates consistent with the needs of the global oil market, and stressed that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is supporting the Organisation’s work.
He stressed such renewable projects support the strategic vision of the UAE in the field of energy and petroleum industries.
It would help reinforce the economic stature of Fujairah by raising its oil storage capacity and improving the services of the FOIZ
During the meeting, Sharqi was briefed about the progress of construction work of the company’s second phase project, according to the highest international standards, supporting the country’s development process and strengthening its sustainable economy.
He commended the company’s efforts to increase the Emirate’s fuel and oil storage capacity, and enhance its competitiveness in energy and oil.
Sylva commended Fujairah’s leading role in increasing energy, oil and fuel storage capacities in the Middle East and the entire world, highlighting the Emirate’s advanced infrastructure and technologies that help improve the efficiency of national economic indexes and achieve sustainable development.
Barkindo said that the Fujairah Emirate is, undoubtedly, advancing oil and gas storage and exportation, noting that its significant projects highlight its leadership in this area.
The meeting was attended by Mohammed Saeed Al Dhanhany, Director of Fujairah’s Emiri Court; Salem Al Zahmi, Director of the Fujairah Crown Prince’s Court; Sharif Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure; Ahmed Mohammed Al Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary of Petroleum, Gas and Mineral Resources Affairs; Salem Al Afkham, Director of FOIZ, and several oil storage specialists.
