The Federal Government on Tuesday warned against attempts to interrupt the country’s fuel supply and distribution value chain.

Timipre Sylva, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, gavethis warning in a statement issued by Horatius Egua, his Senior Adviser on Media and Communications.

According to the statement, the warning was given on the heels of revived efforts by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited to maintain the 450.92 million-litre weekly evacuation of fuel to petrol stations throughout the country.

Sylva further assured Nigerians of the FG’s resolve to provide sufficient supply of petrol, while calling on security agencies to try as much as possible to block attempts by what he described as “subversive elements” to interrupt the supply of fuel before the general elections later in the month.

The Minister added that President Muhammadu Buhari was sincerely searching for permanent solutions to the problem of fuel scarcity in Nigeria. He also encouraged relevant oil and gas agencies to team up with the government to put an end to the problem.

The Federal Government, Sylva affirmed, was satisfied with the measures employed by NNPC Limited in ensuring the availability of fuel all over Nigeria.
