Engr. Adeyemi Adetunji Chief Operating Officer, Ventures and Business Development, NNPC

Engr. A. Adetunji started his over 30 years’ career as a Maintenance Engineer and later a Project Engineer in Lever Brothers Nigeria Ltd (Unilever). Thereafter he joined Andersen Consulting, which later became Accenture, a management consultancy firm, where he rose to become a Partner in the Energy & Natural Resources group.

He spent 20 years in the firm providing advisory services including strategy, profit improvement, business process design, human resources management, corporate transformation and change management for clients in various industries spanning manufacturing, commercial, banking and oil& gas.

The First Class Honours graduate of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Lagos joined NNPC in January 2011 as the General Manager (GM), Transformation Office and was in this position for five years. As the GM Transformation Office, he was responsible for leading a team of NNPC and International Consultants to implement NNPC’s earlier developed Corporate Vision and Strategic Plan. Also, Mr. Adetunji and his team worked with various business units in the Corporation on aspects such as business model design, systems & process review, new organization model design, development of Corporate Policies, facilitation of Quarterly Corporate Performance Reviews and Change Management Support to the Corporation’s SAP system deployment.

He thereafter worked as the Group General Manager (GGM) Planning & Business Development in the Gas & Power Directorate of the Corporation before his previous appointment and role as MD, NNPC Retail in April 2017. In July 2019 was appointed Chief Operating Officer, Downstream and later COO Upstream before his new role as COO Ventures and Business Development.

In his role as the MD NNPC Retail, he provided strategic direction, managed a network of 618 land and marine stations and was responsible for the profitable growth, innovation and process improvement in NNPC Retail Ltd.

Engr. Adetunji is a member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Nigerian Association of Energy Economists (NAEE), Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the Institute of Directors (IoD). He has been to several technical and management courses in Nigeria and overseas.
