The Federal Government, through the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), has asked Nigerians not to panic over the removal of fuel subsidy, even as the Authority said it has ensured that petrol will be available across the nation.

This was announced in a statement signed by the General Manager, Corporate Communications for NMDPRA, Mr. Kimchi Apollo, in order to address concerns regarding the removal of fuel subsidy.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday declared that the fuel subsidy regime had ended with the commencement of his administration.

Apollo expressed that the Authority was working towards avoiding any disruption in the supply of petrol, as well as to ensure that consumers were not short-changed in any form.

He also assured that there will be sufficient supply of fuel to meet demands and that NMDPRA had taken necessary steps in order to ensure that the distribution channels remained uninterrupted, and fuel is readily available at all filling stations nationwide.

According to him, the Authority is working with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited and other industry stakeholders in order to guarantee a smooth transition after the removal of fuel subsidy.
