By Teddy Nwanunobi

President Muhammadu Buhari will deliver the opening speech at this year’s Nigeria International Petroleum Summit (NIPS).

The Opening Ceremony and the Gala Dinner/Award Night will be held on Monday, June 7, 2021 at the Presidential Villa Abuja, where Buhari has been confirmed to deliver the speech.

Producers of the NIPS, Brevity Anderson, revealed this, following the approval granted by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.

Confirmation of Buhari’s presence has raised the profile of the event, and provides a greater opportunity to deliberate and network at the highest level in Nigeria.

“We are required to send in our full attendee list to The State House by close of play Thursday for security clearance.

“So, this is to urge you to kindly complete your registration urgently or by 12noon WAT, this Thursday 27th May 2021, if you want to be in attendance,” the Brevity Anderson CEO, Mr. James Shindi, said.

The Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources has reiterated that the NIPS will hold as scheduled from June 6 to June 10, 2021 at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja, while the Award/Gala night will take place at the State House Abuja.

The theme of the summit, ‘From crisis to opportunities: New approaches to the future of hydrocarbons’, aims at charting the way forward for Africa’s oil and gas industry in the post-COVID-19 pandemic era.

The opening ceremony, awards and gala dinner night are accessible for the following ticket types: Delegate Ticket, Exhibitor and VIP Ticket only. Visitor Ticket, Exhibitor Ticket and Media Ticket holders will NOT be permitted.

The scope of NIPS 2021 has been expanded to incorporate the latest industry trends and topical issues that are at the forefront of every energy leader’s agenda.

It has also become the platform for industry players for the public and private sectors to interact, transact and develop agenda for government and support Nigeria’s role in galvanising other global players in addressing challenges in the industry.

Valuechain reports that the NIPS is a Federal Government’s programme, under the supervision of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and all its parastatals, while the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Nigeria Content Development & Monitoring Board (NCDMB), and Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) are joint hosts.

With the full backing of the Federal Government, NIPS has, over the past three editions, witnessed the highest level of attendance by top decision makers, industry leaders and all stakeholders from both the public and private sectors.
