Axxela Reaffirms Commitment to Energy Security, Industrialisation in Lagos

Axxela Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing energy security, driving industrialization, and promoting environmental sustainability in Lagos State. The energy company made this pledge during a visit to Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Sanwo-Olu, at the Lagos House, Marina.

Governor Sanwo-Olu warmly welcomed the Axxela Management team and expressed the state government’s readiness to create a conducive business environment for investors. He emphasized Lagos State’s commitment to supporting businesses like Axxela in enhancing energy infrastructure and advancing sustainability initiatives.

Kehinde Alabi, Managing Director of Axxela Gas Distribution, highlighted the company’s dedication to improving energy security and its significant contribution to Lagos becoming an energy hub. He stated, “Lagos is pivotal to our business, and our efforts are directly supporting industrialization and promoting environmental sustainability. Our goal is to continue collaborating with the state government to close the energy gap. Our AGI facility in Ikeja and expansion along the VI-Lekki corridor underscore our commitment to sustainable energy solutions that empower industries and reduce carbon emissions.”

Axxela, through its subsidiary Gaslink Nigeria Limited, has been at the forefront of private-sector natural gas distribution in Lagos, expanding its gas infrastructure by over 170 kilometers across key industrial zones, including Ikeja, Ilupeju, Isolo, Ijora, Apapa, Tin Can, Victoria Island, and Eko Atlantic. The company is also expanding into the Victoria Island-Lekki corridor, boosting energy access, supporting industrial growth, and promoting decarbonization with a cleaner and more affordable energy alternative.

The company’s extensive natural gas network has not only attracted new industries but also enabled existing businesses to thrive, contributing to economic growth and increasing tax revenues for public infrastructure investments.

In addition to its gas distribution efforts, Axxela has demonstrated its capacity in power development by constructing Independent Power Projects (IPP) for the Lagos State Government in Akute, Alausa, and Lagos Island, and recently completed a 5.8 MW power project for Cadbury Nigeria.

Axxela also actively invests in social impact initiatives. It has partnered with LASPARK on its annual tree planting programs and supported education through its Back-to-School Scholarship Initiative, benefiting hundreds of students from host communities.
