“The project is the culmination of several years of dedication and hard work by our company”

Asiko Energy has started laying the foundation for a co-located liquefied petroleum gas (LNG) terminal, consisting of a full containment tank, as well as a propane/LPG terminal, making it the first land-based LNG receiving terminal to be built in Africa.

The company said that the project is being undertaken in order to deepen the utilization of LPG, otherwise known as cooking gas, and to also help enhance the expansion of Asiko’s gas business in Nigeria.

The ground-breaking ceremony of the dual-liquefied gas storage terminal located in Ijora, Lagos State, took place last in December and, on completion, the facility will house 5000 metric tonnes of Propane/LPG storage and a 30 million-litre LNG storage tank.

Felix Ekundayo, who is the Managing Director of Asiko Energy, while commenting on the project, noted that “the project is the culmination of several years of dedication and hard work by our company.”

“The company recently signed a contract with the NLNG for the domestic distribution of LNG, making Asiko the only company to be involved with both the domestic LPG and non-domestic LNG distribution in Nigeria,” said the company’s managing director.

He expressed appreciation to the board of directors of Asiko Energy, as well as its numerous shareholders, colleagues, financiers, and, particularly, to the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited, its supply partners of 15 years and counting.

According to Ekundayo, Asiko Energy, which began operations 15 years ago, first commenced operations under the domestic LPG distribution initiative and subsequently went on to pioneer captive power solutions for commercial and industrial applications (using LPG). He added that the company’s vision has always been to become the ultimate gas and clean energy provider in Nigeria.

He stated further stated that the company’s terminal under construction, when completed, will be Nigeria’s first dual liquefied gas fuel terminal, with the ability to receive, store and distribute both LPG and liquids.

Ekundayo added that his company’s vision has always been to become the ultimate gas and clean energy provider in Nigeria.

Asiko Energy has made numerous investments in the development of LPG infrastructure in Nigeria and has multiple LPG depots across the country, as well as a fleet of LPG distribution trucks.
