The Unified Matriculation entrance examinations popularly known as JAMB is officially over and in short succession, the Senior School Certificate Examinations has commenced, combining to make this a season of examinations. It is normal to feel stressed out. But don’t worry, there are simple ways to handle it! Let’s explore some easy tips to help you manage exam stress and do well in the external exams.

1. Make a study schedule: First things first, break down your study material into smaller parts. Then, make a schedule of when you’ll study each part. This way, you won’t have to study everything at once, and you’ll feel less overwhelmed.

2. Take breaks: Studying for long hours without a break isn’t good for your brain or your stress levels. Instead, take short breaks every hour or so. During your breaks, do something you enjoy, like going for a walk, or playing a quick game.

3. Eat well and stay hydrated: Eating healthy meals and snacks, and drinking plenty of water, can help keep your brain sharp. Try to avoid sugary snacks and drinks, as they can make you feel tired and sluggish.

4. Get enough sleep: It’s important to get a good night’s sleep, especially during exam time. Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep each night to help your brain function at its best.

5. Set realistic goals: Instead of aiming for perfection, set realistic goals for yourself. Break your goals down into smaller, achievable steps, and celebrate your progress along the way.

6. Find study techniques that work for you: Everyone learns differently, so it’s important to find study techniques that work best for you. People like me like to make flashcards, while others prefer to study with friends. Experiment with different methods until you find what works for you.

7. Stay positive: It’s easy to feel stressed and overwhelmed during exam time, but try to stay positive. Remind yourself that exams are just one part of your life, and that you’re capable of handling whatever comes your way.

8. Practice relaxation techniques: When you start to feel stressed, try practicing relaxation techniques like deep breathing or visualization. These simple exercises can help calm your mind and reduce anxiety.

9. Exercise regularly: Exercise is a great way to relieve stress and improve your mood. Try to fit in some physical activity each day, whether it’s going for a walk, riding your bike, or playing a sport.

10. Ask for help when you need it: If you’re struggling with a particular subject or concept, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Talk to your teacher, a classmate, or a family member for support and guidance.

Remember, it’s okay to feel stressed during exam time. But by following these simple tips, you can manage your stress levels and perform your best on your tests. Good luck! May we all pass over exams successfully.
