Trade Made Easy: Tinubu Introduces National Single Window for Seamless Commerce

In a significant development for Nigeria’s economic future, President Bola Tinubu has launched the National Single Window initiative, signalling a major shift in the country’s trade dynamics. 

According to a press statement issued by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity,  the initiative, touted as a game-changer, aims to streamline and digitize trade processes to boost efficiency and drive economic growth.

During the launch event at the State House, President Tinubu emphasized the initiative’s role in breaking down barriers to development, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to advancing the nation’s progress and prosperity.

He revealed plans for the Office of the President to oversee a dedicated steering committee to ensure the initiative’s smooth implementation.

President Tinubu outlined the benefits of the National Single Window, noting its potential to simplify government trade compliance through a digital platform.

By fostering seamless collaboration among ports, government agencies, and stakeholders, the initiative aims to enhance trade facilitation and unlock new economic opportunities for Nigeria.

Citing projections of substantial economic gains from paperless trade, President Tinubu drew inspiration from success stories in other countries and expressed Nigeria’s readiness to embrace a similar transformative journey.

He envisioned a future where businesses thrive, small enterprises access global markets, and trade processes are free from bureaucratic hurdles and corruption.

Mr. Zacch Adedeji, Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), elaborated on the initiative’s core principles, emphasizing the importance of data harmonization and a carefully crafted implementation plan.

He stressed the collaborative effort required from all stakeholders to ensure the initiative’s success.

Chief Ajuri Ngelale highlighted the National Single Window’s significance as more than just a project but as a symbol of Nigeria’s collective ambition for a brighter economic future.
