The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has instructed Electricity Distribution Companies (Discos) to connect and install meters for new customers within 10 days of making a written request.
The Commission issued this instruction at the unveiling of its service charter on Tuesday, stating that Discos are obligated to visit a consumer’s residence within 24 hours of making an electricity-related complaint.
The Chairman of NERC, Engr Sanusi Garba, while speaking at the unveiling, said that the charter will promote and ensure an investor-friendly industry, as well as provide an efficient market structure to meet the need for safe, adequate, reliable, and affordable electricity for Nigeria and its citizens.
According to him, regulating public utilities is paramount to ensure that Nigerians get the service they deserve efficiently and effectively.
