The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd, NNPC, has released details of how it distributed a total of 502.21 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, in one week to bridge the gap.
According to NNPC, the petrol, distributed to Nigerians through retail filling stations from February 4th to 10th, 2023, represents an average daily distribution of 71.74 million litres.
A breakdown of the NNPC weekly national evacuation report released on Monday, showed 87% of all evacuations took place at the top 30 loading depots with a minimum evacuation of 5 million litres while other loading depots evacuated 13% of the total volume.
The NNPCL said the top 20 high-loading depots used are Pinnacle 71.53million litres, NIPCO 29.53 million litres, AITECO 28.71 million litres, MATRIX 19.79 million litres, TSK 19.69 million litres, MRS Ltd 19.09 million litres with the least going to Evergreen 0.44 million litres, Ever oil 0.24 million litres, Alkanes 0.08 million litres, Mainland 0.05 million litres and Swift 0.04 million litres.
State dispatches: Lagos got the highest with 2,287 followed by FCT with 707 and Oyo got 629 with the least going to Bayelsa at 49, Zamfara, 48 and Ebonyi with 25 trucks respectively.
With the distribution of 502.21 million litres in one week, scarcity of petrol was arrested, with queues drastically reduced at filling stations in Abuja, Lagos and other major cities.
