Dr. Philip Mshelbila is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria LNG Limited and the Vice President of Bonny Gas Transport.
He is a dynamic business leader with 30 years’ experience in the energy industry spanning board-level governance, strategic leadership, extensive stakeholder management, business and project development and profit and loss accountability in both operated and non-operated (joint) ventures.
Before coming to NLNG in August 2021, he was the CEO of Atlantic LNG Company of Trinidad and Tobago. Before then, he was General Manager, Gas for Shell Nigeria, during which time he also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Shell Nigeria Gas Limited; director of Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd (SPDC); and director of the Gas Aggregation Company of Nigeria.
He has been Regional Communication Manager for Shell in West Africa, General Manager for Sustainable Development and Community Relations for Shell Nigeria, and Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Gas Ltd.
Philip joined Shell in 2001 as Company Health Advisor for North, West and East Africa and has also served as Regional Health Manager for Africa overseeing 36 countries. Prior to joining Shell, he worked with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and National Oil and Chemical Marketing Company Plc (now Conoil Plc).
Philip has a degree in Human Medicine (MBBS), a postgraduate qualification in Occupational and Environmental Medicine from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the IESE Business School of the University of Navarra, Spain.
Philip has a passion for developing people and has demonstrated strong leadership in both crisis and normal operations of the gas and power business. He loves travelling and exploring new cultures, swimming and spending time with his family.
