17 vessels jostle to offload N109.4bn fuel at 4 jetties

  • Govt to pay 19.4% of landing cost

As the Senate rejects bill to phase out petrol cars in the country, no fewer than 17 vessels are jostling to berth at four petroleum jetties in Apapa with 608,302 metric tons of premium motor spirit (PMS), also known as petrol.
The fuel is valued at N109.4 billion at the landing cost of N180 per litre.

It was learnt that government would be paying N35 or 19.44 per cent of the landing cost to importers of the fuel.

According to the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA)’s shipping position, 10 of the vessels would berth with 421,830 tons at Single Bouy Mooring (SBM).
Also, five vessels are queuing to offload 186,472 metric tons of the fuel products at Atlas cove Jetty (ACJ).

The jetty would take delivery of 30.65 per cent of the total imports for the month.

Bulk Oil Plant will take delivery of 34,995 tons from Ocean Princess, Hafnia Atlantic, is expected at NISPAN with 27,000tons.

At SBM jetty, Nord Valorous, is expected with 37,398 tons; Admore Sealifter, 36,000 tons; Epicurus, 59,998 tons; New Century, 61,343.343 tons; MSK Torshaun, 36,604 tons; BW Danube, 60,000 tons; Jinan, 30,499 tons; Central, 37,000 tons; Hamburg Star, 59,988 tons and Bora Bora, 37,000 tons.

Also, Atlas Cove jetty is expecting Marlin Aqua Marine with 38,000 tons; Team Voyager, 37,705 tons; BW Marlin, 38,000tons; Manolates, 34,899 tons and Lacerta, 37,868 tons.

Between January and February 2019, the country imported a total of 986,492 metric tons of petroleum products (1.39 billion litres),
The NPA’s statistics also revealed that the petrol import was 705, 185 tons in January, 2019.
It was also 60.11 per cent higher than the 281,297 tons imported last February.

Last December, 27 vessels offloaded 1.02 million tons of PMS at Atlas Cove Jetty (ACJ) and Single Bouy Mooring (SBM).

It was gathered that 21 of the vessels offloaded 776,221 tons at ACJ, while six vessels discharged 249,615 tons of the fuel at SBM.

The NPA shipping data revealed that BW Puma offloaded 37,000 tons of the products at the jetty.
Other vessels are Nord Integrity with 38,036.700 tons; Mearsk Callao, 37,992.321tons; Gladys W, 38,000tons; High Pearl, 38,500tons; Maniva Julie, 38,500tons; Elandra Fjord, 37,050tons; Theano, 38,000tons; Electra, 36,850 tons ; Torm Eric, 36,800tons; Stena Immortal, 36,286 tons and Twinkle Star, 34,998tons. Others are Dylan, 37,975tons; Res Cogitans, 59,995tons; High Loyalty, 38,000tons; Stena Imperator, 20,000tons; Torm Louise, 37,760tons; ULCC Eagle, 31,319tons; Central, 36,800tons; Gotland, 37,500tons and BSL Elsa, 28,860tons.

Also at SBM, Trent discharged 37,102tons; STI Dana, 38,000 tons; SM Palcome, 37,900 tons; FPMC P Eagle, 50,000tons; STI Galia, 33,111tons and Captain Paris, 53,502.763 tons.

Last November, a total of 561,556 metric tons of the petroleum product were delivered in Lagos by 15 vessels at three jetties in Lagos.

Atlas Cove Jetty took 86.3 per cent of the fuel imports, while 13.7 per cent of the gasoline were offloaded at Single Bouy Mooring (SBM) and Bulk Oil Plant (BOP).

At the ACJ, Estia discharged 35,000 tons; Torm Agnet, 30,000 tons; Dalamcija, 36,820 tons; BSL Elsa, 37,931 tons; Torm Almena, 38,000 tons; Emerald Shiner, 60,000 tons and Zoilo Intership, 37,607.645 tons.
